Purchased the bag to hold my Lumix LX100. Fits top section with a lot more room to carry other items. What I liked about the bag. -The material is made of heavy canvas, it pretty rugged -Strap is heavy duty and the metal loops and clip -comes with a padded lens pouch What I didn't like about the bag. -Doesn't feel comfortable when you have it on. -There's a huge gap between the bag and you back -The strap is a bit long -The bottom piece where the strap is attached to should be on either left or right side of the bag Returning the bag.
A simple but very useful bag. Great for carrying a mirrorless or a compact camera with 2 or three prime lenses or 2 mid-size zooms.
I personally have been using it to carry a compact point & shoot and a big medium format rangefinder. The pouch inside is helpful to carry a few extra films or SD cards and accessories.
There are some awesome things about this bag but...there are a few flaws.
The concept of this bag is awesome. I was looking for the ultimate adventure sling bag and thought this was it. I love the olive green mixed with the fossilized khaki color scheme. The antique brass hardware is very nice too! The old world map liner is really cool and fits the concept well. Pockets are decent size for the random items I carry (not camera equip), but items related to hiking and exploring. The stitching seems decent but not too heavy duty, i'm wonder how it will hold up to the every day adventure. Hope it lasts many many years!
The things about this bag I dislike or wish were just improved on are:
*The length of the shoulder strap...I wish it could cinch down smaller, so that I could wear it tighter to my body. I have it down all the way, and there's still about 3"-6" of slack. On the flip side, if I expand the strap as far as it goes, it's big enough to fit the Incredible Hulk. No one, will ever wear it like that...Nat Geo, please make the strap a bit shorter...to fit normal-small sized bodies.
*Left/Right side cross-body carry...It has this swivel hook at the bottom, with velcro, and it is arranged straight at first. It "says" you can manipulate the configuration to fit on your back across your body from the left side, or the right side. Only when you arrange it for lefty/righty, and sling it, there is a huge gap between the bag and your back. It looks ridiculous and is a huge disappointment. The fit should be flush to your back. And the ONLY way I have been able to have this kind of fit, is if I sling it over my left shoulder, crossing my back to the right...and (relocate the swivel hook to the small 1" piece of khaki webbing loop thing on the side of the lower pocket). Which I actually don't mind doing, except I hate that they didn't put one on the other side too, because I like to have the bag slung over both shoulders at different times, depending on the activity or preference. And when you do this...there is this big piece of velcro on the swivel hook that is not being used anymore and is just dangling in the way of things...
*Average zippers...I would love to see YKK on there, you just can't beat them. I would also love to see reinforced heavy duty stitching all the way around this thing too.
*Back pocket...love it but, it says it's for maps, and it does fit maps...but it's too narrow of a pocket for a map case, which would provide waterproof protection. Come on, an extra half inch of width is all it needs.
I would also, as a suggestion for improvement like to see, some kind of extra external webbing on the bottom, and on the side without zippers (left side) see a couple of adjustable loops to throw trekking poles or a tripod into. That would be wonderful.
I will keep this bag and attempt to correct and relocate things to my personal preferences. I also will recommend this bag, as it is quite nice, and is really cool. I just warn those before buying that they may encounter some of my issues.
